The Canadian Media Guild is now taking applications for Dispute Resolution Level II: facilitation and mediation, which is to be held in Toronto from November 3 to 6, 2011. The course is open to any Guild member who already has some training in dispute resolution and understands an interest-based approach to problem-solving. We are looking for applicants who have taken either CMG’s Dispute Resolution I or Art of Negotiation, or have comparable training in dispute resolution.
This course is designed to build on previously learned skills. Where Dispute Resolution Level 1 focused on solving individual problems, Level II will focus on helping others find solutions. Participants will learn effective facilitation tools and techniques dealing with behaviour and process. They will learn how to define the problem, how to ask questions effectively, the language of facilitation, the importance of neutrality, best and worst practices and practical strategies for dealing with difficult problems.
If you are interested in applying, go to our website at http://www.cmg.ca/educationguidelinesEN.shtml and download the application form. Don’t forget: your application must be endorsed by your branch or location president or vice-president.
