The tragic event that played out in Vancouver on Saturday, April 26 was incredibly hard on all Canadians, but unimaginably difficult for Filipino communities. For our CMG members who have been covering this story, it’s undoubtedly taken a toll, even if we’ve kept our professional composure.
Our union would like to provide an opportunity for anyone who worked on this story to do a virtual check in meeting on Wednesday, May 7 at 19:00 PST. We want to hear from you on what worked, what were the challenges you faced, and what lessons were learned.
It’s important that we allow ourselves some space to hold natural human reactions to such stressful situations. Although it’s part of working in news, it can help for us to consider our approach and to support one another as we make sense of how we tell these stories to the rest of Canada and the world.
Please watch for an email next week with a zoom link.
In Solidarity,
