Hello comrades!

We’re here with another update on collective bargaining. 

Last we spoke, we had just filed for conciliation in Quebec. We had several sessions with the company and the conciliator, and have now decided to file for conciliation in Ontario. 

We may still have more conciliation sessions in Quebec if needed, but we are also filing in Ontario to keep the process moving forward.

CP-CMG members are certified in each province where they work. This means we could seek conciliation in some or all of the provinces where we operate during negotiations. 

Conciliation is a necessary process before taking job action, but it’s also a normal and important step in collective bargaining.

It offers the union and the employer the chance to keep negotiating with the help of a neutral third party. 

We are scheduled to meet with the conciliation officer, who was appointed by Ontario’s labour ministry, on June 10. 

We’ll keep negotiating in good faith and doing all we can to reach a fair deal for our members.
