Hello Union folks,

I’m William Wang, and I have been director of human rights and equity since 2022, yes by acclamation. Frankly, I wish I had gotten more done on the diversity and equity front, but every word I say in council is informed by concern for minority members, and an understanding of the difficulties we face, particularly those fighting intersectional discrimination. I’ve been working on accommodation denials, and my original intention to offer diversity training to members has evolved into a plan to offer it to news and media managers/producers.

I have really enjoyed working with council, an amazing group with a lot of diverse personalities and approaches. I’m known for being levelheaded when things get heated (and at times they can get weirdly heated).

Otherwise, I’m a video editor who got involved with my local CBC Edmonton chapter when I first arrived nine years ago. I stepped into a branch VP role a few years later.
