Remembering those Who Served on the Frontlines

November 11, 2025

On Remembrance Day, we reflect on the sacrifices of Canadians who served and died in wars, peacekeeping missions and other conflicts. Many returned home with physical and psychological wounds that lasted a lifetime. Their service helped protect the freedoms and values that define Canada today.

We also acknowledge the brave journalists and media workers who brought the realities of war to Canadians at home. Their work and sacrifice ensure that future generations will have a record to remember the human cost of conflict.

These risks continue today. Media workers around the world still face life-threatening situations while reporting on wars and conflicts, and many have lost their lives. On this Remembrance Day, let us pause to honour both the soldiers who served and the journalists who bear witness, past and present. Their dedication reminds us that freedom, peace, and access to knowledge come at a cost.

Lest we forget.
