Thursday, February 27 is the global day of action for the release of Al-Jazeera journalists detained in Egypt, under the banner “Journalism is NOT a crime.”

CMG is supporting the campaign by CJFE and Al Jazeera English for the release of Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy and his colleagues Peter Greste, and Baher Mohamed imprisoned in Egypt since December 2013 for doing their work.

Vigils are being held around the world, including Toronto and Montreal. We are asking you to sign the online petition and share it with family and friends.

If you are in Toronto, you can join the vigil Thursday, February  27 at Nathan Phillips Square at 12:00 noon.  The Montreal vigil will also take place at noon on Thursday at 1000 de la Gauchetière (Egyptian Consulate).
