April 6, 2026: 1.5% Wage Increase
On Monday, April 6, 2026, our wages will be increased by 1.5% going forward. This does not begin on April 1, in order to align with Workday pay periods; last year, we received a 1.5% pay raise on March 24, 2025, for the same reason. Although you will start to earn more on April 6, 2026, that amount will not appear on your pay stub until the last week of April. According to the terms of our current collective agreement, we still have the right to negotiate a further increase for the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years, depending on how much the Treasury Board allocates to CBC/Radio-Canada for salary inflation funding.
We are aware of the recent main estimates for CBC/Radio-Canada posted on March 5, 2026, by the Treasury Board that seem to be $192 million less than our current funding levels. It is still unclear whether these are finalized numbers or include total amounts. CMG will continue to monitor the situation closely.
Nominate a Union Leader
The CBC/Radio-Canada Branch President’s Award will be presented to a CMG member for exceptional achievement on behalf of CMG members (or the labour movement in general), or for long-term service to the union.
Nominations may come from any CMG member in good standing, and must include an additional two seconders. Please send nominations to officeadmin@cmg.ca with the slugline President’s Award, and copy both seconders. The deadline to submit is March 20, 2026. Click here to view the rules and criteria for the award.
Please provide the following information:
1. The full name, job title and location of the candidate.
2. Describe the exceptional achievement or long-term service of the candidate.
3. How has the candidate’s achievement or service benefited CMG members?
4. In what capacities/ on what committees have they served the union?
5. If relevant, has the person been involved in other labour-related activities outside the CMG?
Apply to be an Observer
We are also looking for applicants to come as observers to the CBC/Radio-Canada Presidents’ Council on May 25 and 26, 2026. Are you a local union activist that would like to know more about how our local leadership guides the affairs of the CBC/Radio-Canada Branch? Are you ready to take on a bigger role within CMG? If so, please fill in this form by March 20, 2026. Travel costs to the Orillia area, and wages will be covered. Applications may come from any member in good standing of the CMG at CBC/Radio-Canada, who aspires to take on leadership roles within the union in their locations or across the country, and who is not already attending the Presidents’ Council meeting as a CMG leader.
In Solidarity,
CBC/Radio-Canada Branch Executive Council
