Today, Canada’s Senate voted to amend a hypocritical, anti-union bill that was as unfair as it was poorly designed. The Senate amendments gutted key provisions of the bill, which must now go back to the House of Commons for a vote. With the House now on summer break, it’s not clear where the bill goes from here.
Union activits as well as numerous Canadians, including Senator Hugh Segal, worked hard since the private member’s bill was introduced, to educate the public on the many ways in which it was flawed, unfair and potentially costly for Canadians.
We will continue to monitor what the government does as a result of today’s Senate vote.
