Responses to JE challenges to come later than expected

More than 700 CBC employees have submitted challenges to their slotting under the new Job Evaluation program, implemented January 9. As a result of the high number, the joint JE committee will not be able to respond to challengers within 90 days of receiving their challenge, as outlined in the collective agreement. The joint committee needs extra time to give each challenge proper consideration.

Instead, CBC management and the Canadian Media Guild have agreed that decisions on all challenges will be released at the same time to all employees involved. The committee is hoping to communicate the results of the challenges by the end of June.

The joint committee has scheduled 19 days of meetings between now and the summer and is committed to managing the process in a fair, equitable and diligent manner.
