Saint John, NB – Seven striking members of The Canadian Media Guild are offering Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau a chance to show Canadians that his stated focus on the middle class is very real and genuine.
The Saint John 7, as they have become known, work for radio stations K-100, Kool 98 and 93 CFBC but have been on legal strike against their employer, Maritime Broadcasting Systems, since June 25th, 2012. Wage scales have been the main stumbling block in the dispute.
The strikers have released a video outlining steps Justin Trudeau could take to help bring an end to the strike, given the fact that MBS owner Robert Pace is an old family friend and well-connected party member who has benefitted greatly from Liberal patronage appointments over the years.
Gary Stackhouse, leader of the 7 and President of CMG’s Private Radio branch, points out in the video that Pace’s actions following the workers’ decision to unionize run contrary to Trudeau’s stated goals of ensuring fair wages for middle class Canadians.
The Guild members are encouraging supporters to share the video through social media in an attempt to convince Mr. Trudeau to take action.
