TVO management studying employee “empowerment”

You will likely have seen the invitation this week from Anika Holder, TVO’s new director of organizational development, to participate in a management exercise on the future of TVO.

Employees are invited to participate if they wish. They can also decline if they wish. The Guild was not asked to take part in the exercise, although we did receive a briefing on it late last week. We were assured that information provided by employees in the process would be kept confidential and reported only in the aggregate.

The Guild is in favour of an organizational culture in which employees are recognized as essential to TVO, believe in the work they do and are free to express themselves and give honest input on issues affecting the provincial broadcaster. In fact, these are among the very discussions we’ve been having at the bargaining table.

We will be interested in the outcome of the organizational development project. In the meantime, if members have questions or concerns about it, don’t hesitate to talk to us.

Gregg Thurlbeck
President
Guild at TVO
