Hello! I’m Arman Aghbali. I’m the Director of New Members and Precarious Workers with the Toronto LEC, and I’m a producer at The Current. The more time I’ve spent as an LEC member, the more I’ve come to believe in the power of unionism and the importance of the work we do as CMG, CWA Canada and ultimately CWA members.

I’m looking for ways to get more involved with our union, and take more opportunities to learn how to be a better steward, representative and comrade on our shop floor. The CWA convention represents an opportunity to better learn how the union works and take advantage of training provided by our siblings at the NewsGuild. This is one of the fastest growing unions in the world, who have a lot to offer us in terms of lived experience and resources. 

Whatever I learn, I will bring back to the CMG and help make our union stronger and more united. And, as a delegate from the CMG at the CWA convention, I will reflect the values provided by my work as a journalist, someone who seeks the truth and doesn’t fall to credulity, and as a unionist, someone who wants the best possible outcomes for the people I work alongside.
