The Canadian Media Guild (CMG) will be sending a total of seven delegates from five CMG branches to represent Canada at upcoming events involving our union: the CWA Canada National Representative Council meeting in April, the NewsGuild-CWA Sector Conference in July, and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Convention also in July.
These events are an opportunity to learn more about the union and strategies for advancing the interests of workers, and to share ideas and information with fellow media and other workers.
Delegates will be elected from nearly 5,000 CMG members, including workers at Agence France Presse, APTN, BuzzFeed, Canada’s National Observer, CBC/Radio-Canada, The Canadian Press/Pagemasters North America, CKOF, Islington Printing, TFO, Thomson Reuters, TVO, VICE Media, ZoomerMedia.
Other delegates will come from across Canada and the United States, chosen from the hundreds of thousands of union members who work in different areas such as telecommunications and information technology, the airline industry, news media, broadcast and cable television, education, and health care.
To join CMG President Annick R. Forest in representing the CMG, submit this nomination form by Thursday, February 2, at 8 p.m. ET.
If needed, there will be a membership-wide vote to select the delegates. The term of the delegates will last until the end of 2024.
Vaccination or health related travel matters are the responsibility of each individual.
