Do you want to have a say in how your union is run at the national and international levels? The Canadian Media Guild is holding elections to choose delegates for upcoming TNG Canada and TNG/CWA meetings in 2007.
The vote will take place March 7-9 using the CMG’s automated online voting system.
The CMG is entitled to a total of 13 delegates. By virtue of her position, CMG president Lise Lareau automatically has delegate status. We are therefore looking for twelve members to attend the combined TNG/CWA convention in Toronto, July 12-17.
Ten delegates, representing at least four different branches of the CMG, will be elected by all members. Of those, the six candidates who receive the highest number of votes, and representing at least three different branches, will also attend TNG Canada meetings. TNG Canada holds two meetings each year: for 2007 the first will take place in mid-April in Toronto, and the other sometime this fall.
In addition, two delegate positions for the TNG/CWA convention have been set aside to represent the CMG’s newer members (under 35 years of age) and equity-seeking groups (i.e. aboriginal peoples, visible minorities, people with disabilities and women).
Nominations are now open for these positions. The deadline is 5 pm Eastern time on Friday March 2.
Download the nomination form by clicking here. All candidates, as well as the nominator and seconders, must have a signed CMG membership application card on file in the CMG office. If you are interested in the New Members position or the Equity position, please indicate that on the nomination form. Completed nomination forms (with original signatures, not photocopies or faxes) must be received by the Guild’s national office before the March 2 deadline. Once a candidate’s nomination form has been received and verified, the candidate will be invited to submit a short note to explain who he/she is and why members should vote for him/her.
