Every two years, a large group of Canadian Media Guild (CMG) members gathers at our convention to meet and consider our needs and priorities as a union organization.
In addition to members who are already automatic delegates to the convention — Location Unit Presidents, members of Branch Executive Councils, and members of CMG’s National Executive Committee – additional delegates are elected to attend from over 5,000 CMG members across Canada.
As of the close of the nomination period on Thursday, March 22, 2018, forty-one (41) additional delegates to the CMG convention were acclaimed across 17 Branches and Location Units.
Twenty (20) more delegate positions will be determined through elections involving 8 Branches and Location Units where nominations are closed at this time.
Elections are currently slated for: CBC Charlottetown, CBC Edmonton, CBC Halifax, CBC Saskatoon, CBC St. John’s, CBC Vancouver, and Canadian Press Halifax, as well as the Freelance Branch. For Location Units requiring elections, the vote will take place on March 28 and 29, 2018.
Thirty-nine (39) additional delegate spots are still open across the following 25 Branches and Location Units:
CBC BC Transmitters, CBC Calgary, CBC Foreign Correspondents, CBC Fredericton, CBC Hamilton – Kitchener Waterloo – London, CBC Northern New Brunswick, CBC Ottawa, CBC Regina, CBC Sydney, CBC Toronto, CBC Victoria, CBC Windsor, and Canadian Press (CP) Ottawa, PMNA Toronto, CP Prairies, CP Toronto, CP Vancouver, APTN, Corus, Private Radio, TFO, Thomson Reuters, VICE, VICE Montreal, and Zoomer.
Interested candidates, at the 25 Branches and Location Units where delegate spots are still open, should put their name forward to cmg2018@cmg.ca by Monday, March 26, at 5 p.m. your local time.
