Michael D’Souza was announced as recipient of the CMG’s most prestigious award for volunteers during the 2016 CMG Convention.
In announcing the award, CMG President Carmel Smyth cited his decades-long advocating for human rights and equity issues, and his efforts in ensuring media workers are treated and paid fairly and have access to full time work.
Michael gave an emotional acceptance speech saying how much union work has meant in his life and that he felt compelled to work toward building solidarity and helping young media workers.
