Call for Nominations: CMG Delegates to CWA Canada National Representative Council in Ottawa April 24-25, 2026

Feb 5, 2026

The Canadian Media Guild (CMG) is looking to build a community of members to help us foster greater connections with other unions, work with allies on various social issues and find other avenues for member education.

The Canadian Media Guild is Local 30213 of CWA Canada. They are our parent union, and we work closely with their staff and other media union members across Canada. We share interests and opportunities. We are looking to increase our connections at a time when solidarity is more important than ever.

The CWA Canada National Representative Council will be held in Ottawa on April 24-25, 2026. During that time, new members of the CWA Canada executive team will be elected, including three members at large from the CMG. At present, we are represented at that table by former CMG national president Annick Forest and CBC/Radio-Canada Branch Toronto LEC President Kat McMorrow.

We will be putting forward candidates for the next CWA Canada executive from our delegate pool chosen through this process.

To be a delegate, you must have signed your CMG membership card, be available to travel to Ottawa from April 24-25, 2026, and submit this nomination form by 4 p.m. ET Feb 13, 2026.

If the CMG receives more nominations than there are delegate positions, a membership-wide vote will take place from 9 a.m. ET Feb 18 to 3 p.m. ET Feb 23, 2026.

Once the results of the elections are official, the delegates will be selected as follows:

Step one: The nominee from each branch with the most votes will be selected.

Step two: If there are more delegates than our allocated number after step one, the candidate with the most votes will be delegate number one, the candidate with the second most votes will be delegate number two, and so on until all delegate spots are filled.

Step three: If delegate spots remain after step two, the next spot will be filled by the candidate with the most votes from all branches, and so on until all positions are filled.

If you would like to know more, please contact CMG national president Jane Robertson at president@cmg.ca

In Solidarity,

Jane Robertson
