Call for nominations – CMG elected positions at National and Branch levels

Consistent with our bylaws, CMG is holding elections for all positions at national and branch levels. Nominations are now open for all elected positions. The vote will be held November 17 to 21, 2022 and the winners at the National and Branch levels will start their three-year term on January 1, 2023.

To find out more about the roles and responsibilities of the various positions, visit our website.  We’ll also be posting biographical notes on candidates, so you’ll know more about the people you want to vote for.

Here are the positions that are available:

NATIONAL OFFICES – Open to ALL CMG Members in good standing

CMG National Executive Committee

  • National President
  • National Vice-President
  • National Secretary-Treasurer  (Must live within 150 km of Toronto)
  • Director – Human Rights and Equity
  • Director – Francophone Issues
  • Director – Precarious Workers  (Temporary workers during past 10 years)
  • Director – Small Branches
  • 3 National Trustees (Reporting to NEC)

BRANCH OFFICES – Open to ALL CMG Members in good standing who work for the respective branch and region

APTN Branch Executive

  • President (also NEC member)
  • Vice-President
  • Secretary-Treasurer

BUZZFEED Branch Executive

  • President

CANADA’S NATIONAL OBSERVER Branch Executive

If you’re interested in nominating a colleague as a candidate for a position, click here to download the nomination form and instructions. The deadline for receipt of completed nomination forms is 10 p.m. (ET) Tuesday, October 25.

The candidate, nominator and two seconders must all be CMG members in good standing. To be a member in good standing you must have a CMG membership card. If you do not have you card, go to www.cmg.ca/en/membership-card/.

If you are having problems getting a nomination form signed due to COVID-19 quarantine issues, please contact vote@cmg.ca and we will direct you how to circulate and send in your nomination via E-mail.

All candidates are reminded to review the Guildelines for CandidatesCode of Conduct, and Elections Policy. Other members who campaign for a candidate are bound by the same policies. CMG employees are not allowed to campaign in support of any candidate.
