Important message regarding the election for CWA/SCA Canada Director

**Keep your eye out for an envelope in the mail from CWA/SCA Canada: it contains your ballot to vote for the new leader of the Guild’s parent union in Canada.**

Because of the postal workers dispute we delayed distributing mail ballots for the election of the new CWA/SCA Canada director. Now that the dispute has settled into a pattern of rotating strikes we have decided to proceed with the mail ballot. We feel this is respectful of the union involved and will still provide the most cost-effective method available to ensure the democratic will of the members of CWA/SCA Canada is expressed.

But because of the delay we have decided to extend the voting period to ensure the delay in the process caused by the disputes will not impact the ability of members of CWA/SCA Canada to ensure their votes are counted.

The new voting period will end on July 7, not June 23 as previously planned. That means all votes must be in Ottawa by July 7 to be counted. The votes will be counted July 9 in time for the result to be announced before the CWA Convention. But the seven-day appeal period will not end until July 16 under
the new schedule.

The same voting period applies to in-plant balloting.

We regret the delay and its impact on candidates and members but we feel this is the best alternative under the circumstances. Ballots are being mailed out immediately and should be received by all members in the coming days.
