The Canadian Media Guild (CMG) has joined more than 120 Queer and Allied Organizations in working to make the lives of 2SLGBTQIA+ folk better in Canada. We are united in calling on the federal government to renew and expand the Federal 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan.
Over the past 5 years, this action plan was the primary vehicle through which the Government of Canada sought to advance equality, freedom and human rights for 2SLGBTQIA+ people. Without reinvestment, that plan is set to end in March of 2027.
With the initial investment in the action plan expiring in March, 2SLGBTQIA+ and allied organizations from across Canada are calling on the Government of Canada to renew and expand the action plan in Budget 2026.

“Finding community is one of the best ways for 2SLGBTQIA+ people to feel less isolated and to get the supports they need to survive and thrive,” said Jane Robertson, President of the Canadian Media Guild. “Programs through this action plan help lift and connect us all regardless of economic status, workplace or where we live in the country. Continued support is vital to us in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.”
CMG, alongside other organizations across Canada, are urging the Government of Canada to renew and expand the Federal 2SLGBTQIA+ Action Plan in the upcoming federal budget. A continued and expanded action plan is critical to upholding values Canadians hold dear, building a stronger economy, and maintaining global leadership on 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in an era of rising hate and backlash.
