Get involved with your Union! Volunteer to serve on a CMG national committee   

We are looking to build a network of members to help us accomplish shared goals over the coming years. Contribute your energy, experience and insight on key committees within our union! 

Please consider stepping forward to serve on one of the committees below.

Here is what you need to know:  

Equity and Human Rights Committee (CMG National – Standing):  

Chaired by the CMG NEC Director of Human Rights and Equity, this committee is tasked with developing, supervising and maintaining an effective program to promote human rights and equity within our union.  

The successful candidates will serve until December 2028.

Election Oversight Committee (CMG National – Standing) 

Made up of three members, two of whom are not members of the union’s National Executive Committee (NEC). This committee oversees elections at the CMG national and branch level, making sure union elections are conducted fairly and members are properly informed throughout the process.  

The successful candidates will serve until December 2028.

Structure and Governance Committee (CMG National – Ad Hoc): 

This committee will be formed as directed by the membership from the 2025 CMG Convention as Resolution 7. (Link here

“Convention direct the NEC elected in 2025 to appoint and fund a committee as described below to investigate and report on streamlining and improving the Canadian Media Guild’s structure and relationship with CWA Canada with the intent of merging governance and oversight between our parent union and its largest local.  

Said committee will be made up of 7 representatives, including representatives from the three largest branches of the CMG, a representative for smaller branches, and a representative from CWA Canada. Additional non-voting ex-officio members can be invited by the committee to represent other umbrella or union organizations. 

The investigation should include paid legal opinions, funded by the NEC, as deemed necessary by the committee. The committee’s full report would be available to all members within 12 months of the committee’s creation.”  The CMG National Executive Committee will review all applications, select the members who will serve on these committees, and communicate the results to the membership.
