Guild bargaining committee re-energized, hopeful for May 8

We would like to take the time to thank everyone who came out to our information?meeting yesterday. Your bargaining committee is re-energized as we move foward to our next scheduled day of talks with TVO management on Thursday May 8.
?
As we discussed at our meeting, your committee will be looking for some movement on the key issues and we are hopeful that sincere efforts will be made toward resolving them. These issues, which remain unchanged, are:
– language that binds TVO management to meaningful discussions with the union in advance of any significant?change affecting our work;
– layoff and recall language?that allows for mitigating the impact through?redeployment and/or reassignment before the issuing of pink slips;
– improving aspects of the collective agreement that affect work-life balance;
– a meaningful wage increase

We will be available on Friday May 9th from 1 to?5p.m. at the Northern District Library meeting room at Yonge and Orchardview Boulevard, just north of Eglinton, to update members on the May 8 talks and any next steps.
?
In the meantime, please feel free to contact any of us if you have thoughts, concerns or questions about the process. We thank you for your solidarity and support.
