Guild sends best wishes to two members injured in Afghanistan

Members of the Canadian Media Guild are horrified to learn that two Ottawa-based colleagues were injured Wednesday by a bomb blast in Afghanistan. The two, videographer Charles Dubois and reporter Patrice Roy, were covering the deployment of the Royal 22nd Regiment (Van Doos) in Afghanistan for Radio-Canada television.

“Our thoughts are with Charles and Patrice and their families,” says Marc-Philippe Laurin, president of the CBC Branch of the Guild. “They can count on the love and support of their colleagues as they recover from this very unfortunate incident.”

Update ? August 28, 2007
Marc-Philippe has contacted both Patrice and Charles to offer them whatever help or support they might need from their union. Marc-Philippe spoke directly with Charles, who is in Germany recovering from surgery on his leg following the amputation of his foot. Charles will be flying back to Canada later this week and said he really appreciates the good wishes he and Patrice have received from their colleagues.
