CBC management has agreed to place forty positions at the Shared-Services Organization (SSO) into the CMG’s bargaining unit. The positions had been excluded as management or confidential.

The agreement is a result of the application the CMG filed at the labour board more than a decade ago claiming jobs were being excluded inappropriately from our bargaining unit. More recently, the board has been facilitating discussions between CMG, CBC management and APS (the Association of Professionals and Supervisors) aimed at clarifying the lines of jurisdiction between the organizations, settling the long-standing dispute and avoiding future disagreements.

This is the first agreement to come out of the discussions. The parties are continuing mediation to resolve additional jobs under dispute. Also as a result of the discussions, two positions will be moved from the CMG bargaining unit into APS.
