Spend an evening with BBC journalist and freed hostage Alan Johnston

Celebrate World Press Freedom Day with a discussion between BBC Journalist Alan Johnston and Anna Maria Tremonti, host of CBC Radio’s The Current, on Wednesday April 30, 2008 at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. This is his only public appearance in Canada.?

Johnston was kidnapped by a group of Palestinian militants while on assignment in Gaza in March 2007.?There were rallies urging his release in cities around the world, including Toronto and he was freed after 114 days.?

“Free to Express Himself” is being organized by the Canadian Media Guild, Canadian Journalists For Free Expression and Canada’s International Development and Research Centre. Proceeds from the event will go to the CJFE.

When: Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 7:00 p.m. Cash Bar Reception: 6:00p.m.
