Dear CMG members at TVO,
After 39 days of strike, TVO management has tabled an offer that includes a 7.5% wage increase over the 3 years covered by the offer.
The CMG TVO Branch Bargaining Team was able to maintain a path to permanent employment for contract workers by successfully fighting back a major concession that would have increased precarious employment for our membership. This has been a major collective effort with members pulling together to fight for a fairer contract.
Despite the challenging weeks on the picket line since August 21, members showed incredible tenacity, solidarity and creativity that earned them the admiration of their peers and of Ontarians from all walks of life.
We are grateful for the incredible support of fellow CMG members, the broader labour movement and the public. Members are supportive of one another and feel overwhelmed by the incredible good cheer they have received on the picket line and by the generous financial donations.
Here are the highlights of the deal:
Wage increases:
- October 28, 2022 – 3.00%
- October 28, 2023 – 2.75%
- October 28, 2024 – 1.75%
Job security
Protections preventing the use of contracts to replace permanent and temporary workers.
A pathway for members to change from a classification to another.
Training paid for by the employer and ability for all members who opt to participate in the training program to do so.
The offer was presented to the TVO membership on Thursday evening and again Friday morning and the vote will take open at 1 p.m. ET and close Sunday, October 1 at noon. Voting details will be emailed to you.
