The Canadian Media Guild (CMG) is hiring an experienced organizer to work three days a week for a one year period out of our office in Toronto. The organizer will develop and implement a strategy to expand CMG’s freelance membership.

Other duties include:

-Co-ordination of the union’s advocacy and service activities for freelancers
-Creation of outreach materials and social media strategy
-Ongoing communication with freelancers
-Outreach to potential partner organizations

The ideal candidate will have experience organizing people in a labour or community setting, knowledge of the media industry and freelance issues, excellent communication and social media skills, a proven ability to lead a project to successful completion, demonstrated leadership skills, and the ability to work well with others. This will be a unionized position with excellent compensation and benefits. The contract may be extended depending on success.
