Update on negotiations with The Canadian Press

Dear members,

Your efforts in our recent social media mobilization were clearly noticed by The Canadian Press.

We met with a conciliator and the company last week as part of the conciliation process in Ontario. The company presented what it called its best offer. Their offer reflected the largest movement we’ve seen in wages during these negotiations but fell short of the threshold we believe most members would accept.

The employer then signified on Monday, June 16, its intention to resume conciliation. We will join them at the table again on Thursday, June 19.

What’s next: We remain open to working with the company even if we requested a no-board in Ontario.

We will provide you with another update after our next meeting with the company.

In solidarity,

Your bargaining committee:
David Friend, CP Branch President
Nicole Thompson
Adrian Wyld
John Chidley-Hill
Frederic Daigle
Julie-Anne Vondrejs, CMG Staff Representative
Matt Douglas, CMG Senior Staff Representative
