To our Zoomer members,
We want to inform you that ZoomerMedia is currently facing financial challenges, largely due to the declining profitability of traditional television. As viewing habits continue to shift and advertising revenues drop, the economic pressures on the industry have grown significantly.
As a result, the company has implemented temporary layoffs affecting a number of unionized CMG members. This situation is difficult, and we understand the impact it has on those directly affected, as well as on the branch. We have requested to be kept abreast of any future changes.
We are hopeful that these changes will be temporary and that we’ll be able to welcome our members back to work in the near future. In the meantime, we will continue advocating for fair treatment and support for our members during this period, including preparing well in advance for the next round of bargaining.
The current CMG-Zoomer contract expires in August 2025. To help us prepare, please fill in the bargaining surveyby June 1st.
In solidarity,
Matthew Douglas, CMG Senior Staff Representative
