Agence France-Presse (AFP)
BuzzFeedCMG at Buzzfeed Canada became official in 2019. Members at Buzzfeed Canada produce content for the internet. Their work is focused on but not limited to food, news, pop culture, and commerce articles. They are primarily located in Toronto. Our members working at Buzzfeed are committed to providing quality news, and entertainment to hundreds of millions of people; making content on the internet more inclusive, empathetic, and creative; and inspiring their audiences to live better lives.
Canadian National Observer
Canadian PressThe Guild represents about 300 people at The Canadian Press. They include wire service reporters, radio reporters, announcers, editors, photographers, photo editors, computer maintenance technicians, and sales staff. They work in bureaus and correspondent points across Canada (St. John’s, Halifax, Fredericton, Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria) and in Washington.
CBC/Radio-CanadaThe vast majority of what you see, hear and read on CBC radio, TV and the Internet, in French and English, has been made by Guild members. We are on-air, production, technical and administrative employees at CBC/Radio-Canada outside Quebec and Moncton. We are strongly committed to quality Canadian broadcasting and have been leading supporters of the campaigns to save the CBC and public broadcasting during the crises of the recent past.
CKOFCKOF-FM is a French-language commercial radio station in Gatineau, Quebec, serving the National Capital Region including Ottawa. Owned and operated by Cogeco, it broadcasts a talk radio format, calling itself “104,7 FM”. Some programming is shared with sister station CKOI-FM Montreal.
Islington PrintingThe Guild bargaining unit at the Post Production Plant (PPP) was certified in 2020. The branch is comprised of all the employees at the Islington printing facility located in Etobicoke. These members work in the press room, reel room, and distribution center. The print facility is part of the Postmedia Network Canada Corp, a Canadian news media company representing more than 200 brands across multiple print, online, and mobile platforms.
TFO
The Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN)The Guild represents around 45 employees at the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network. Our members at aptn include producers, studio crew, reporters, master control operators, videojournalists, researchers, shooter/editors, anchors and broadcast technicians. Guild members at aptn are primarily responsible for network operations, and producing APTN National News and Contact, the network’s national call-in show.
Thomson ReutersThe Guild represents reporters, photographers and technicians, as well as accounting, client support and secretarial staff, at Thomson Reuters. They work in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Calgary. The Guild has represented Thomson Reuters’ employees in Canada since 1976.
TVOTVOntario was established in 1970 to provide commercial-free programming and interactive media resources that educate, inform, and entertain. In 1987, TVOntario established tfo, a French-language network, to join TVO, the existing English-language network. In mid-2007, the organization was split into two separate operations for English- and French-language broadcasting. CMG continues to represent employees at both organizations.
Vice MediaCMG at VICE Canada became official in June 2016. Members at VICE Canada work in editorial, production, post-production, marketing, design and administration. They are located in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. VICE is a global youth media company and content creation studio. VICE operates in 30 countries and has an array of digital channels, a TV production studio, a film studio, a magazine, a creative services agency and a book publishing company. In Canada, VICE content is available at www.vice.com and on TV at VICELAND, a joint venture with Rogers.
ZoomerMediaThe Guild bargaining unit at ZoomerMedia was certified in January, 2005, back when the broadcaster was known as Vision TV. We represent some 50 employees in various departments, including Production, Programming, Finance & Administration and Marketing & Communications. We negotiated our first collective agreement in 2007.
