The Canadian Media Guild is urging union activists to participate in a new course from the national education committee called “Taking Care of Business: the CMG guide to effective activism.” The course helps activists develop the skills they need to represent their colleagues and run a location unit or branch.
June 23 is the deadline for applications to the BC and Atlantic region courses, which take place September 22 to 24 in Vancouver and Halifax respectively. The Ontario Region/Iqaluit and French-language courses run October 20 to 22 in Ottawa. The Toronto course runs November 17 to 19 and the Prairies/Yellowknife & Area course runs December 1 to 3.
If you have already been accepted for the course, you do not need to apply again. The Guild will cover all expenses and arrange for release from work with full pay for any scheduled work day for participants.
Click here for a full course description and to apply. Download and complete the application form and make sure either your location/branch president or vice president fills out the endorsement part of the application form. Your application will NOT be considered without the endorsement.
