Negotiations with Shaw Media have begun

The Guild bargaining committee met for two days this week with Shaw Media’s negotiating team, which is comprised of Megan Atkinson (human resources), Jaime Caiero (presentation), Scott O’Brien (post-production) and lead negotiator Richard Morris, a former Shaw manager from Kelowna, BC, who is acting as a consultant for this round of bargaining.

Both committees presented an overview of the changes and improvements they would like to see in the agreement. Neither side wants to start again from zero. This week, we took the time to discuss how the provisions in the agreement have been applied over the last three years and how Shaw approaches managing employees.

The Guild presented its bargaining objectives based on the results of the recent bargaining survey. Thanks to all of you who responded.

We are scheduled to meet again for two more days next week and foresee maintaining that ambitious pace for the foreseeable future. We hope to report some progress next week.

If you have any questions, you can speak to any member of the bargaining committee or write to Keith Maskell (keith@cmg.ca).
