To submit a sick leave request at CBC / Radio-Canada, you will need to fill in and submit the CBC’s Medical Absence Report form (MAR) that has been modified by the Canadian Media Guild to remove the diagnosis word from the “nature of illness or injury box” on the form itself. The Canadian Media Guild views this form to comply with the collective agreement. You can access virtual healthcare from CBC/Radio-Canada.
If you are only sick for a day or so, call in sick to your direct manager. If you need to be off for a longer period of time, then you need to contact your doctor and get the MAR filled in by them & submitted to Disability Management at CBC/Radio-Canada. You are not required to submit a medical note until after 5 consecutive sick days (unless you have had more than 9 sick days without medical documentation throughout the year). Please read Article 80 for more detailed information regarding Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability provisions.
If you have any questions or concerns about your sick leave, please contact a CMG staff representative.
