Eleven members have been nominated to represent CMG at the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Convention (August 11–12) and the TNG-CWA Sector Conference (August 8-9) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The CWA Constitution allows the CMG to send 9 delegates to its convention. The delegate allocation is based on the number of CMG members who have signed their union card.
The president of the CMG, Annick Forest, is an automatic delegate.
In an effort for representation from as many of the CMG’s 13 Branches as possible, delegates with the most votes from each branch get a delegate spot. There was only one nomination from the Canadian Press, David Friend, and one from Canada’s National Observer Branch, Natasha Bulowski: they have both been acclaimed.
The nine remaining nominees are all from the CBC/Radio-Canada Branch. To determine the remaining six (6) delegates who will represent the CMG at the conventions, a vote will be held through the CMG online voting system, from Wednesday, June 18 at 9 a.m. EST through to Friday, June 20 at 3:00 p.m. EST. All CMG members in good standing can vote for up to six (6) candidates.
When polls open on Wednesday, June 18, you will receive an email with your 9-digit CMG Identification Number, along with your 6-number randomly generated Pass Code. You will also receive the link to the CMG voting system.
