The Special Advisors involved in the Ontario government’s major review of labour law will be released ‘in the first half of 2017’. We are hoping the final ‘Changing Workplace Review’ document reflects some of the recommendations CMG put forward on behalf of reality and factual TV workers. The changes proposed under Bill C-27, An Act to amend the Pension Benefits Standards Act, would make retirement benefits unpredictable for current employees and retirees, not to mention future generations of CBC workers.
CMG received the union certificate from the Labour Board on Wednesday, February 1, and immediately gave notice to bargain to Corus. We are now working to schedule dates to meet with the company, so that we can start negotiating a collective agreement that improves working conditions and works well for Corus, too.

Now that you are represented by CMG, Corus cannot unilaterally decide new terms and working conditions. Any changes in terms and conditions need to be negotiated and approved by the union.
